Hi everyone, we are a couple first time visit Sydney this Dec from 22/12- 3/1/26

Couldnt believe almost 98% of hotels around the harbour are fully booked on the night 31/12 or either too expensive to afford. Can anyone pls kindly recommend any neighbourhood that not too far away to the the opera house that we can easily get an uber back after a new year eve party on 31/12? Many thanks

  Your best bet is to book somewhere along the train line, but out of the city. Consider St Leonards, Chatswood - theyre about 20ish mins via train. Alternatively you might find something in Maquarie Park, it also has a train line. You could look at pub accommodation as well.You will struggle to find anything, most accommodation books out 12 months in advance for New Years in Sydney

  Not sure why you’re so surprised that everything is booked up already.New Years on Sydney Harbour is always extremely popular and books out well in advance.Trying to get anywhere after the fireworks is a nightmare,as everyone is queuing for the train and you will a long time and forget about an uber.Have you tried around Potts Point,Edgecliff?

  Minimum night stay very common for NYE and accom is always booked up very early.

  Any hotels close to the Sydney Harbour Foreshore would sell out years ahead for NYE.
